Rheumatoid Arthritis, Immune System, and Acupuncture

Researchers studied the effects of acupuncture on rheumatoid arthritis and asthma. They looked to see what effects acupuncture would have on the immune system of arthritis and asthma patients.

The authors write that "After acupuncture, in 20 patients with asthma, IgG increased, IgM and IgE decreased, while IgA did not change markedly in 12 patients with rheumatoid arthritis, after acupuncture IgG, IgA and IgM decreased, while IgE did not change evidently."

In the arthritis and asthma patients of this study acupuncture exerted a positive effect on the immune system.
